To glorify God through the Holy Liturgy; to preserve and pass on the Orthodox Tewahedo faith; to nurture every soul through prayer, teaching, and sacrament; and to serve our neighbors with the love of Christ. በቅዱስ ቅዳሴ እግዚአብሔርን ለማክበር፤ የኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ እምነትን ለመጠበቅና ለማስተላለፍ፤ በጸሎት፣ በትምህርትና በምሥጢራት ሁሉንም ነፍስ ለማነጽ፤ ጎረቤቶቻችንንም በክርስቶስ ፍቅር ለማገልገል።

The Orthodox Tewahedo Faithየኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ እምነት
The Ethiopian Orthodox Church is one of the Oriental Orthodox churches and is considered an apostolic church, meaning it traces its teachings and leadership back to the apostles of Jesus. It holds a central place in Ethiopia’s religious and cultural identity, with deep historical roots. The term "Orthodox" comes from the Greek word meaning "straight" or "correct," symbolizing the true path of faith. This name reflects the belief that the church has remained faithful to the original teachings of Jesus and his apostles without deviation. "Tewahedo" means "made one" — referring to our confession of the perfect union of the divine and human natures in the one Person of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church is one of the Oriental Orthodox Churches, holding the faith of the first three Ecumenical Councils. Worship centers on the Divine Liturgy (Kidase), the veneration of the Holy Cross and the Theotokos (St. Mary), fasting, and a rich tradition of hymns (mezmur) and chant. የኢትዮጵያ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ ቤተ ክርስቲያን ከምሥራቃውያን ኦርቶዶክስ አብያተ ክርስቲያናት አንዷ ናት እና እንደ ሐዋርያዊት ቤተ ክርስቲያን ተቆጥራለች፣ ይህም ማለት ትምህርቶቿን እና አመራሯን ከኢየሱስ ሐዋርያት ጋር ትመልሳለች። በኢትዮጵያ ሃይማኖታዊ እና ባህላዊ ማንነት ውስጥ ጥልቅ ታሪካዊ መሰረት ያለው ማዕከላዊ ቦታ ይይዛል። "ኦርቶዶክስ" የሚለው ቃል የመጣው "ቀጥታ" ወይም "ትክክለኛ" ከሚለው የግሪክ ቃል ሲሆን ይህም እውነተኛውን የእምነት መንገድ ያመለክታል። ይህ ስም ቤተ ክርስቲያን ለኢየሱስ እና ለሐዋርያቱ የመጀመሪያ ትምህርቶች ያለ ምንም ልዩነት ታማኝ ሆና እንደቆየች ያለውን እምነት ያሳያል። “ተዋሕዶ” ማለት “አንድ የሆነ” ማለት ሲሆን፣ በጌታችን በኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ አንዱ አካል የመለኮትና የትስብእት ባሕርያት ፍጹም አንድነት ያለንን እምነት ያመለክታል። የኢትዮጵያ ኦርቶዶክስ ቤተ ክርስቲያን ከምሥራቃውያን ኦርቶዶክስ አብያተ ክርስቲያናት አንዷ ናት። አምልኮ በቅዳሴ፣ በቅዱስ መስቀልና በእመቤታችን ቅድስት ድንግል ማርያም ክብር፣ በጾምና በመዝሙር ይከበራል።
